Murder was attempted on my soul
And it’s the darkness that I blame
The darkness and the pain
The darkness I cannot contain

It grows inside like poison
A toxin undefined
It comes up from behind
Black thoughts distort my mind
As we become entwined

Darkness with a purpose
It has its own agenda
Feeding off my desperation
Tears are its motivation
I move on with trepidation

Doubts replace confidence
Weakness is the cause
The culprit is rejection
Lost with no direction
Needing that one connection
